FAQ
Common Questions.
Still have questions? Schedule a call — I'm happy to talk.
What does it cost to work with you?
My primary compensation is based on assets under management, and the fee structure is fully transparent - we discuss it plainly in our first conversation. I don't believe in burying fees in fine print. As a fee-based advisor, my compensation may also include fees or commissions depending on the services and products involved, but whatever the source, it's disclosed upfront.
What does 'fiduciary' actually mean?
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner, I'm held to a fiduciary standard - meaning I'm required to act in your best interest, not my own or a product provider's. The CFP® designation represents over 50 years of excellence in financial planning, and with it comes a commitment to uphold the CFP® Board's ethical standards. Many advisors operate under a "suitability" standard instead. I'm happy to be held to something higher.
Why do you have a $500,000 minimum?
Comprehensive financial planning takes real time and expertise to do well. The $500k minimum is the point where I can deliver on all of it — tax savings, coordinated investment management, ongoing planning — without cutting corners. Not quite there yet? A conversation costs nothing — let's talk about where you're headed.
Do you manage investments yourself?
Yes. Client portfolios are managed through Alphastar Capital Management, LLC, an SEC Registered Investment Adviser. You work directly with me - and your investments are built around your tax situation, risk tolerance, and income needs.
How often will we meet?
I conduct ongoing reviews with every client. During significant life events - a business sale, retirement, inheritance - we're in touch as often as needed. You'll always have direct access to me by phone and email.
Are you local to Bozeman?
Yes - Bozeman is home, and most of my clients are right here in Montana. Home base, not a boundary, though: I work with clients across the country too. Not in Montana? Let's talk anyway - I'd love to hear where you're headed.
